Gary Higbee Looking Beyond Compliance at a 3rd Dimension of Risk at the Wisconsin Safety & Health Conference

75th Annual Wisconsin Safety & Health Conference and Exposition

Compliance and performing risk assessments are a standard requirement in ensuring employee safety. If done well, the assessment is a chance to identify potential risks and minimize or remove them completely. Compliance aims to reduce injuries but, unfortunately, often ignores the human component. SafeStart’s Gary Higbee will address those subjects at the 75th Annual Wisconsin Safety & Health Conference and Exposition in April.

April 11—11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Rethinking Risk Assessment: Adding the 3rd Dimension will concentrate on the fact that risk assessment is only effective if, in addition to reducing injuries, it also saves time and money. Adding this—a 3rd dimension—to the risk assessment makes it more effective.

April 11—1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Beyond Compliance will discuss whether compliance alone reduces injuries. Gary will introduce his audiences to the key factors of human error and point to the gaps in compliance-focused safety management systems.

The annual conference will be held at the Wisconsin Kalahari Resort April 10–12. It will include professional development courses, conference and expo sessions and a networking reception evening. SafeStart will be one of the exhibitors at the event, so come talk to us, we’ll be at booth 1319.
