Non-Profit Brings Safety to the Classroom

A class learning SafeStart in Argentina

It’s never too early to teach safety skills to children—and that’s why a South American non-profit organization has begun bringing SafeStart concepts into classrooms.

The Juncal Foundation is located in the city of Rosario in Santa Fe, Argentina. The foundation’s goal is to help children develop safety and leadership habits, and so it made sense for them to turn to SafeStart when designing a classroom safety lesson for students.

SafeStart is so effective in the classroom because everyone who learns SafeStart internalizes the concepts and techniques until they become habits and skills—and this has proven to be an excellent way to teach safety lessons to children as well as adults.

The Juncal Foundation’s initial workshop introduced the importance of safety to 631 children in five different schools. The young students watched the Boo Boo Bandits video (found in the SafeStart Home kit) and then worked on practical applications of safety concepts by scouring their schoolyard for dangers.

Afterwards, each child brought the safety program home where the entire family went on the lookout for hazards and created a plan to minimize risks at home.

The Foundation received recognition from the Municipal Council of the City of Rosario, which declared this safety project a Municipal Initiative and awarded the Juncal Foundation a Diploma of Sustainable Commitment.

Given its initial success, the foundation will continue delivering this program to 10 schools each year, reaching over 3,300 families with its safety and injury prevention message.

We’re pleased to see the Juncal Foundation teaching SafeStart concepts to young students and wish them success in passing on essential safety skills to more children in the future.
